Gabriel can see peoples’ souls when he looks at them. It’s not an ability he can turn off, but it's not just a straight 'look and see everything' kind of ability either. Basically, souls have layers and some people might have the skill or abilities to block his sight. In addition, the splintering of peoples' souls into daemons might make it hard for him to see things--like a heat-wave on a road.

Please do reply to this again if something significant enough happens to your character to change the tenor of their soul.

Character name: [Nuff said!]

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? [Gabriel will actively look at peoples' souls, because that's how he comes to his judgements. However, if you would rather he not have that ability, please let me know and we'll work out either something to do with your character which might block his Sight (eg, warding), or we'll say that the difference in reality-metaphysics has made it too hard for him to look at them.]

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? [Borrowing from Flah here: The stuff that's buried deepest are things that people would try to hide no matter what, no matter who. Things in the middle might be stuff your character isn't really comfortable sharing with a complete strange, but might share with a friend. Stuff on the surface would be emotions felt presently, powers that are active right now, or memories that are so strong they just immediately pop out.]

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? [Things like wards, glamours, magic, or simply having enough strength of will or skill at lying to consciously hide their truths.]

Anything else? [Anything else? Update?]

Character name: Meja Urdahl
Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yes, sure.
What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? (updated as of 10/1/12) Meja gets her abilities from runes that have been passed down through her family line since ancient times, from Odin. (When they die, the runes are passed on.) Those memories would be somewhat near the top. Other memories near the top include recently ones when she was forcibly enrolled in having to fight in Thor's place in Ragnarok. Technically, she made the choice to do it, but it was either that or stay at the Observatory forever and let everyone die. Meja is too good and loyal of a person for that. She used the opportunity to wrangle the safety of the human race (who were supposed to have died) and a few others, like Fenrir. There's also the injury she received through the fight: her right forearm is where Jormungandr's venom collected, which would have killed her instantly; Hel placed powerful magic on her to prevent that. Gabe would definitely be able to sense the raw rage and destruction carried through the venom. Buried memories would include her parents. Her father was squished by a troll and her mother died a slow death in a hospital (which created, in her, a phobia of such places). Her mother was her hero, and she loved her mother more than breathing itself. Her father was made into an Einherjar upon death and they reunited recently, but he was killed during Ragnarok. She's going to pretend that this doesn't hurt just as bad as the first time, but it does.
Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Her runes protect her from low-level mind-reading, but Gabe would be able to get past them. He would have to try, however, instead of it being automatic.

Character name: Raven ([personal profile] featherdream)
Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Sure.
What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Again, some copy-pasta. Raven has 150 million years of memories, so, there's a lot there. His most important memories are making the parallel worlds in his own, and finding his other "siblings." Most of his memories would be in the middle range. He has a small number of extremely negative memories, but they'd be buried very far down and he tries not to think about them very much. Back home he can control time, dreams, life and death, which is where the "god" parallels from humanity came from. Despite this fact, though, Raven does not have an ego and he tries to stay firmly in the realm of True Neutral.
Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Raven's pretty mighty in the mental department, so reading him would be much more difficult than the average creature. He's an inherently magical being and pretty dang powerful, especially at home where he's capable of creating alternate dimensions all by himself.
Anything else? In Raven's world, "angel" rumors and myths came from people seeing him half-shifted in human form with wings. Gabe can feel free to pull that particular memory if you like.

Character name: Octavo ([personal profile] eightdead)
Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yes. Although I'd prefer her "secret" not come out yet, more about that below.
What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Octavo keeps most of herself under the surface, as she's a sociopath and has to fake empathy. She's also a serial killer. On the surface she's very light, and tries to charm/make friends with people to hide her very dark core. The pressure of dealing with "lesser" beings builds up until Octavo has to kill someone to relieve it.
Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Octavo is completely mundane, but a very, very good liar. It's up in the air what you'd like to do with that.
Anything else? She's gonna frown on you messin' with her demon pal, Gabe. :|

Character name: Black Waltz Three ([personal profile] toolofdestruction)
Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yes.
What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Three is only a few months old, and he knows (unlike his two brothers) that his kind are made from recycled souls. He doesn't have very many important memories due to his being treated as a weapon of war. He thinks of himself as superior to other creatures, even his brothers, but buried deep down are feelings of confusion and being lost in his purpose. Three isn't an inherently bad creature, he's just been taught a lot of unpleasant things and has had to work out things for himself. In a lot of ways, he's somewhat like a teenager.
Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Not especially. Three is very magical, but he doesn't have any abilities that guard against mental/soul intrusion.

This is... copypasta, I admit it.

Character Name: Narcissa Black
Are you comfortable with this power being used against your character? Sure.
What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? She's superficially quite shallow, but under that is quite a decent person, well-hidden with her family's teachings. She's very family-oriented. He might be able to sense her loneliness, and how much she misses her sister, though that is very deeply hidden.
Besides a character's daemon, do they have any powers, abilities, or devices that would prevent him from seeing anything? Possibly some latent ability for Legilimency/Occlumency would mean the shallowness is more readily apparent than anything else. She's spent a long time being the dutiful daughter.
ANYTHING ELSE??? Um. No?

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? You know her from canon, so that's all fine. You're also fine to grab at my headcanon human history for her, if you'd like!

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? She'll definitely be trying to keep him out through her power/will of her own, but obviously that's not going to stand up to an archangel. Oops.

Anything else? You're not on Ruby's Xmas card list, Gabriel. >:|

Character name: Zaza

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Hell yeah, bro.
What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? All the things.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Nope. Zaza don't give no fucks about Gabriel being a snoop.

Anything else? /chinhands

Character name: Arya Stark

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yes!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? idk how familiar you are with asoiaf, but long story short: Arya was present at her father's execution/murder, but Yoren prevented her from seeing it. She hates the Lannisters for this reason and thus, she's a bloodthirsty little thing way deep down though a lot of the other characters in-game are trying to temper that. She recently lost her brothers and Winterfell as well as her beloved blade Needle, but her oldest brother Robb is with her at the Observatory.

Arya is also a warg in that she can slip into the mind of her direwolf Nymeria, but she doesn't really understand her powers and so far can only manage this while going to sleep.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Nope.

Anything else? I think Arya might like Gabeface a little. c: Definitely more than stupid Lucipoo.

Character name: Ciara Donnelly

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Completely.

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? I'm not running late for things this morning, so you can get a tl;dr!

But basically, Ciara does not, under any circumstances, want people to know about what happened with Cathair unless it has a point in being shared. (For example, she shared that with Robb to try and get him to understand she knows what losing your pack feels like.) She definitely is not a huge fan of announcing that she's the mother of all werewolves. While she's generally over it, not everyone reacts to that bit of information very well, so she's careful about who she divulges that to.

But anything and everything is really free game. That's just the stuff she'd really rather not.
Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? As you know, Ciara does have a glamour. Not sure how that'd run interference, but it can if you want!
Anything else? Come flirt & be denied, Gabriel. Do it.

Character name: Anthy Himemiya

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Well it will piss Anthy off no end, and expect wards right after she figures out he can do that, but he'll get one good look.

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Now, this is tricky. Is Gabriel's power restricted to sight? Can he also hear/smell things? What follows is a description that works for Anthy, but I have no idea if Gabe's power actually works like this or not.
The first layer will be roses. Huge, bright red, layered and scented. At this level, Gabriel will get Anthy's "projection" self - very polite, very passive, very unemotional. If he keeps looking, the roses will begin to give way to thorns, which will become bigger and thicker and sharper until they turn into swords, a whirlwind of swords. If he can hear anything, he'll hear voices shouting hideous insults over a repeated chant of "witch, witch", and there will be a smell of blood. This stage is accompanied by memories of Anthy as a manipulator, moments in which she was cruel or nasty to people. If he keeps looking the swords will part to reveal a coffin. This is accompanied by a ringing bell. Here he'll find memories of Anthy as a victim, moments when she was abused by others. Finally, the coffin will become a door. Inside is Anthy herself, but naked and gigantic. There's no sound here. The memories at this point are of Anthy free.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? She can make charms and wards which would probably prevent him from getting past the first layer. And she will.

Anything else? Uh, you'll want to check out Anthy's permission post. Because oh boy will curses be forthcoming.

Character name: Ienzo

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Go ahead

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Surface stuff: He's not sure why he likes radishes. He's partially responsible for the destruction of his world (this is more that it's just such a strong memory that bothers him constantly that it's hard to miss). Lots and lots of guilt. So much guilt. He spent 10 years of his life without a heart (note: different than not having a soul in his universe) and thus without a moral center or compass
Middle stuff: He tortured and murdered a whole lot of people at the age of eight by removing their hearts in scientific experiments. Logically, he KNOWS for a fact that this is because he was coerced into it by his adopted older brother; emotionally, this bothers him
Deep stuff: A somewhat twisted part of him enjoyed the time he spent as Zexion, ie, his Nobody, an amoral creature. There was something he liked about the power he could exert over others.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Ienzo's time as a Nobody gave him complete mastery over the element of Illusion; imagine basically being a deception elemental and that's sort of what he was. While his powers are somewhat weaker now because he's having to re-learn how to use them with a heart, they're still tied intrinsically to his soul, and so it's very possible that Gabriel will get a lot of false-positives.

Character name: Martha Jones

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Go right ahead!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Welp, on the surface, there's probably a strong sense of duty, an intense loyalty to her family, and a whole bunch of curiosity - and a lot of loneliness, because she misses her family, but can't be with them. Beneath that would probably be her memories of travelling with the Doctor (and possibly the broken heart that caused). And buried like hell are her plethora of issues - memories of the Year that Wasn't, killing the Master, being imprisoned by UNIT, etc.

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Chosen One, blah blah, quite possibly the Force incarnate (he has tiny psychic microorganisms living in him, yay), his mommy is DEAAAAAD, shittons of emotional conflict about his duty vs. feelings.

Also I'm sure Gabe has seen Star Wars at some point or another, so feel free to fourth wall him a bit as long as its not YOU KILL YOUR WIFE AND ALL THE JEDI AND EVERYTHING GOES TO HELL.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? more Jedi are trained to block out mental intrusion, but he won't see it coming, most likely, so he won't try to block him until he's seen some stuff already.

Character name: Ion (his name in-canon is Sync but he came here before he got it, so a castmate named him Ion!)

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Indeed!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? He seems like a normal kid but he's actually made out of sound particles (don't...ask...) since that's how you clone people in his world. He has some power when it comes to manipulating elements but he's unaware of it and has no clue how to use it. He's barely half a year old, so despite looking about 12 his mind is that of a much younger child. He learns at a more accelerated rate than a normal person. He has some vague memories of the first two weeks of his life as a miserable lab experiment, and then getting abandoned in an active volcano to die (fun), but the rest is all of his time at the Observatory, which is mostly good. He likes reading and exploring.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? nope, he's completely open.

Character name: Sabriel

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Sure!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Strong sense of duty, rather curious, NECROMANCER, fairly talented general magic user, has a sense of humor that she sometimes tries to hide, deeply in love with her husband. Also, as Abhorsen, her bloodline forms one of the keystones of her world's magic system, as one of its creators put part of its power/essence into Sabriel's family. Another piece of said entity is inside one of Sabriel's bells.

In terms of memories... Her time at school in Ancelstierre, and her daily life in the Old Kingdom are pretty easy to see. Stuff like her father's death and her encounter with Mogget's unbound form would be buried deeper.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Sabriel's pretty talented magic-wise, but any spells she currently knows that could block that kind of thing would only be effective in her own world.

Character name: Dean Winchester

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? He must have seen pretty much all of it already! Probably did that first time he saw them as the Trickster (or even before that if he was watching Earth). Anyway, yes :)

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Dean's memories of Gabe will probably come up as soon as he sees him - Trickster, Changing Channels, ditched in a circle of holy fire... His love and devotion to a family that always seems to be leaving him behind, angst and self-loathing, Hell, Sam falling into the Cage with Gabe's big bros.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? He managed to fake a fight with Sam that let them stab fake!Gabriel - so however much Gabe bought into that is probably the extent. Maybe them being vessels had something to do with it, I dunno - however you want to interpret that! :)

Anything else? They might have to pull some more holy oil out of Sam's ass... :|a Nah, Dean appreciates what you did for him even if he was never fond of you, Gabe.

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yep, definitely!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Memories. Surface memories: mostly recent stuff, including small talk and marching with the Ins-and-Outs; lots of stuff about the other recruits and her COs, details of which I can give you if you need them! Most significant will be Polly (a slight girl with blonde hair), Jackrum (big nasty most excellent sergeant), and Wazzer (tiny scary prophetess chick). Middle memories: detoxing, then falling off the wagon again, which is a much more recent memory. Older memories: are all family-related, blood-drinking, nasty fights with mama vamp. Most of Mal's personality will be buried pretty deep, particularly her insecurities and lack of a real goal in life. Surface personality traits will primarily be intelligence, a sense of humor, and a pretty significant ego. Powers include being immortal and biting people and stuff.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Nein!

Anything else? Most of Mal's memories will be in the Disc equivalent of Czech. Which shouldn't be an issue for Gabe, BUT.

Character name: Aziraphale

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yep! Although he won't be happy about it.

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Memories. Surface memories: the innocuous stuff, pretty much. Memories of Crowley, both "his" Crowley and Cittagazze Crowley, predominate, doing casual bff things. Also, the bookshop as it was before everything started to go to shit. As previously, mental associations with Crowley will be 'friend' first and 'demon' second, but those associations will be there. Middle memories: The eleven years before Aziraphale came to Cittagazze, so most of the time covered in canon. Most of Aziraphale's interactions with Adam will also be in this part of his memory, as documented here on the right side toward the bottom. Buried memories: There's not a ton in here, mostly just a constant loop of the moment he realized Crowley's memories of him had been removed. Personality: A surface layer of polite properness overlaying a good deal of passive-aggression and just a ton of guilt at this moment. Powers: A little way down.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Nope, although he's familiar enough with soul-reading that he might evade it just by . . . not looking at Gabe.

Character name: Peggy Carter

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yep!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Memories. Firstly, Steve is just all through these ALL THROUGH THEM. Surface memories are those that show her in a strong light: being capable, cool under pressure, and emotionally stable, even emotionless. Middle memories include times when she's reacted with what she considers to be too much emotion (such as when she shot at Steve out of jealousy), when she's been weak or acted overly feminine in a majority masculine context, or when she's been harassed, particularly during her time in the SSR. Hidden memories mostly include things related to Steve, which she's suppressing because awkward, complicated, bad timing. Personality-wise she's stubborn as fuck and doesn't take shit, while at the same time being incredibly idealistic, though she tries to hide the idealism, too. Her only powers are the morphing thing. OTHERWISE SHE'S YOUR AVERAGE JANET.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Nope. Not really.

Anything else? Guess who's gonna throw a Re-l-level shitfit when she finds out he can see her soul? This girl.

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? She is a soul/spirit, and in her world she's The Spirit so I'm not sure how that'd work on her. I leave it up to your discretion though.

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see?
Basics: The SUUUUUUUUN. I'm not joking, she's the god of the sun, and her title is Origin of All That is Good and Mother to [Us] All.

If Gabe decides to go deeper, he'd see specifics such as her various children aka the other Brush Gods, Issun her Celestial Envoy (kinda like her personal artist and mouthpiece in the mortal world) and Ushiwaka, her prophet. He'll also get to see snippets of her adventures in Nippon, such as smacking the everliving shit out of a giant eight-headed snake and electrocuting a nine-tailed fox demon.

Powers: She's a reality warper (comes with being a god, really). Her tail doubles as a brush and when she paints in a certain way, she can manipulate her surroundings. Full list over here, plus other moves she has.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Nnnnnnope. Go and be merry.

Character name: Kamui ([personal profile] heartrends)
Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yes. He wont be, but I am.

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see?
Surface: There's another person named Kamui, full name Kamui Shirou, but Gabe would have to go deeper to find out anything more. This Kamui is also kinda busy with his baby dragon and trying to get back to his homeworld, and he's just amusing himself in the meantime by reading through every single post in the network even if he doesn't understand most of that English babble, and going on missions. There's also something about a scar just above his heart that disappeared when he morphed for the first time.

Deep: Kamui is... well. A fucked-up individual and is not quite himself. Literally. He's basically a twin star to another person named Kamui, so he reflects all the darker parts of that person-- call him the shadow to Kamui's self. Destiny is also here, because he has to wipe out humanity in his world.

Powers: He's psychic-- not the telepath or precognitive kind, but the telekinesis/psychokinesis kind, and is able to manipulate all the way down to the atomic level to create stuff like fire, wind and earthquakes out of seemingly nowhere. Recently, he's gotten morphing powers because of the xenomorph plot.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Defenses that are more like an anti-virus than a firewall. They're dangerous and are more of "MUST DESTROY INTRUDER" than anything, attempting to put them in permanent BSOD. Breaking them is a no-no because that'd break his mind and he'll be in BSOD. However, Kamui can choose to cloak himself when he notices someone poking around and seem invisible to senses other than the physical to keep people from trying to sniff him out via powers. He usually goes for the latter because he doesn't want incidents.

Anything else? Whoops I copy-pastad and TLDR'ed

Character name: Steve Rogers/Captain America

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yep!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Memories: basically anything from the movie--being a shrimp but still standing up to bullies because someone had to, him and Bucky watching out for each other until Bucky died on a mission, fighting in WWII, winding up in the future--and then some important in-game things like receiving his Keyblade, getting with Vanadi, being an asshole to everyone while under the influence of a magical acorn back in July (actually, having sex with Anna is totally down in the middle at best), and finding out Peggy made it to Cittàgazze.

Major personality aspects include not thinking ability level or resources have anything to do with one's value as a person, and a willingness to fight losing battles so long as he's standing up for something he believes in until the end.

Powers: Keyblade stuff, obviously, and the magic that goes with it. Due to being frozen as long as he was, he has a strong connection and aversion to ice magic.

Layer-wise, most everything is at or near the surface since Steve isn't much for hiding things and has an incredible memory anymore. The only exceptions are his most important memories of Bucky and the extent of his problems with ice, both of which range from middle to deeply buried just because of their enormity, and how much he misses the time he came from sometimes, which is right down at the bottom.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Steve has serious willpower, but he doesn't know how to apply that to mental stuff, so Gabriel can have as much or as little trouble reading him as is convenient for now. I don't think his saint's bone cornicello would have any effect on Gabriel any more than it would on Lucifer since lol angels, but it's worth mentioning.

Character name: Kirei Kotomine

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yes, go ahead!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Kirei was raised by the Church, and his father is a priest. He himself is a dutiful priest, as well as a dutiful son. He was married, but his wife died a few years ago: she became ill, then killed herself. (She killed herself to try to get Kirei to feel something, but that didn't exactly work out as planned.) He is training to be a participant in the upcoming "Holy Grail War", in which magi battle for the right to win a single wish from the (fake, and, as it turns out, evil) Holy Grail. He knows it's not the real Grail, but no one knows that all the wishes it grants are horrible. Kirei currently believes he's in the war to help another magus win. He believes he has no wishes or desires of his own (though he is very wrong). For the war, as per his father's request, he has technically left the church and is temporarily serving as the pupil of the magi he's assisting.

Kirei has served as one of the Church's Executors, or assassins, killing heretics (including magi) and dangerous entities. He has a great deal of resistance to magic.

Deep down: Kirei's primary, but hidden, obsession (after God), is with his own nature. He feels completely empty inside, lacking any real goals, ideals, or desires. What he does know of his nature is alarming and he pulls away from it, even as he seeks answers. When his wife killed herself, he did feel something, but it was the wish that he had been the one to kill her. He has prayed for God to transform him with His love, but without result. The truth, not even known to Kirei yet, is that he can only find joy in others' suffering, but when he realizes this, it won't satisfy him. He wants to know what he is and why God made him as he is. Canonically, he is said to have been born that way.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? I'm not sure what, if any, effect this might have, but Kirei is full of God's grace; due to his father's extreme devotion and prayers, God gave Kirei the power of magic, as well as healing and the ability to perform miracles. In spite of Kirei's questionable nature, his faith is unshakable (though it later becomes rather twisted).

Character name: Sephiroth

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yes!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Sephiroth is serious, intelligent, and a weird kid. He loves to fight and thinks nothing of killing, though he is constrained by his ideas of duty and being a good SOLDIER (the propaganda he was indoctrinated with, basically). He isn't a bad person; he's simply neutral, morally speaking. His actions are based on logic rather than emotion.

Sephiroth mostly remembers the laboratory where he was raised. The two most important figures in his life were Professor Hojo, who he hates, and Professor Gast, who was the only person he cared about. He doesn't know where Gast went or what happened to him. He has buried resentment and rage toward the scientists, excluding Gast. It's a lot more severe than most people would guess from speaking to him. Kether, his dæmon, expresses this more readily and is often angry and suspicious.

As for his powers, he is great with most weapons but prefers his sword. His strength, speed, reflexes, and endurance are enhanced, and he is capable of teleportation and short-range flight. He has weird energy attacks, the strongest of which is Supernova, which fortunately he doesn't use often. He can also shape-change now, thanks to Colette. One might call him over-powered, but he takes care to be very responsible with his powers.

Recently, Sephiroth was destabilized by his run-in with a Xenomorph, and this has left him with an even greater curiosity about his own nature. He wants to know everything.

Haha, I don't know if Gabriel would know Final Fantasy VII, but if so, I am okay with that, as long as there's no direct fourthwalling. He's so far from canon at this point that I'm sure none of the same things will go very differently anyway.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? There's Jenova, his "mother", the resident alien, world-eating, viruslike, shape-changing thing that makes up roughly half of his genome currently. As I play it, Jenova does have some basic awareness within him, but since Sephiroth is perfectly stabilized, she can't impress her will or awareness upon him in any way under normal circumstances, outside of strange dreams and things like that. (If he falls out of balance, that could change, however.) But she is present, as she is present in every part of herself, and I imagine her soul would be. Where Jenova's soul is concerned, she is cold and distant and doesn't see people as individuals, but as energy, which is what she feeds on. She's a fun lady!

Character name: Helen Magnus

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yep.

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Deeply buried are her issues with trust, the John stuff (aka her fiance turned into Jack the Ripper), etc. She does. not. talk. about. this, even with James. I don't care if he sees that, but if you want to use it, talk to me first. I'm usually pretty open, but if it's done the wrong way, it will break her. There's not really a lot of middle stuff, as she's a Victorian woman and there's societal expectations to think about here, but the one important thing would be her longevity and the Source Blood. Surface thoughts: how much she loves James, but how afraid she is of a serious relationship.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Nope!

Anything else? Helen has about a million and one issues. Basically, anything I give in brackets is fair game to be used. I just like a heads up if it's John-related!

Character name: Nikola Tesla

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yes

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Things buried deepest: Nikola has a very real fear of death, but not because it is death. He is most afraid that he will be forgotten, something that is not acceptable to him. When he was a child, he watched his brother Dane get thrown from a horse, which ultimately killed him. Nikola still feels guilty, believing he caused it. Along with that are feelings of inadequacy because he could never measure up to Dane in his parents' eyes. He still has nightmares about his brother's death. All of this is buried very, very deeply. He tells no one, and he actively tries not to even acknowledge any of it to himself. OOC discussion would definitely be required before any of these were ever used. Things in the middle: He truly does love Helen Magnus. It is about far more than flirting. He might share that with a friend. Maybe. In one of those rare moments of honesty he's prone to having. Also, he actually does care. Deeply. He just doesn't want to get attached. He tries to hide it, but he's too obvious for his own good sometimes. Things on the surface: Jealousy, but there is a teeny, tiny bit of happiness mixed with that. He still wants Helen, but he does think she and James deserve one another. And the Helen he really wants isn't there. He's a genius. He has a massive ego. He's a vampire (genetically). He's very proud of his heritage. As far as powers, well, he is a bit like a walking power source/magnet. Electricity and magnetism. Yep. Ought to cover it.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? He's fairly good at lying, particularly to himself. But other than that, nope.

Anything else? I'm pretty open to most things. I do want discussion for the deepest things. Also, I'm not sure if it has any relevance at all but since memories were mentioned? Nikola has an eidetic memory. Which is often thought of as photographic memory, but it involves all senses. Also, because of this + his genius, he has a million thoughts going through his mind at all times. Including diagrams of various inventions/theories/etc. He even has the ability to build and run a battery of tests using his designs (and predict/know the results/whether it will work) all in his mind before actually creating it. Since this is sort of a visual/memory-type thing, I thought I'd go ahead and mention it.

I apologize for the length of this comment. I hope it is at least slightly helpful.

Character name: James Watson

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yes!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? First part is very much James realizing who Jack the Ripper is, being his old friend John Druitt. It's that ONE topic that they never talk about, and I'd like to just be poked about it before we start as this is a canon point that he'd turn and snap or be overly aggressive over depending on when it got brought up. He's a Victorian gentleman, and is very much in love with Helen Magnus. That's pretty obvious though he keeps it buried out of habit, and his very much rage and feelings of betrayal about Druitt being Jack the Ripper. As for the last it's his love of Helen and general thoughts on things around him and the people and such, being a part of his standard habit of reasoning.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? James is Sherlock Holmes of Sanctuary, and he is a very skilled liar as a result and he also has a pretty strong will when it comes to things in his head. His ability given to him by the Source blood is enhanced intelligence much beyond the human norm, and pretty much his brain runs at a mile a minute or faster as a result and also gives him an incredible memory. I have no clue how that would effect things it's just something I always mention just in case.

Anything else? Not that I can think of but if you have questions ask.

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? As in seeing more than her cat daemon? Yes, for the below answer.

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? The fact that she's a thief on the run. She fled, abandoning her world completely, so that the police wouldn't catch her. The only thing waiting for her at home is a jail cell.

Character name: Shay Delaney

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Sure!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see?

Surface level: Shay is an Awakened mage, which according to canon soul vision means she 'runs hot'--her soul is bigger, brighter, and more vivid than ordinary people's. She glows with potential and possibilities, although those are largely untapped at the moment. All mages have an Avatar, which is the engine of the universe they work their gift with--Shay's is especially fiery, but her actual soul is neurotic, regulated, and streaked with self-doubt.

Deeper level: Shay really doesn't like herself much or think she's worth anything. Her mentor's previous apprentice was and is more brilliant and talented than Shay thinks she could ever be, and she struggles under his shadow. She has no genuinely close relationships and shuts herself off from people out of a fear of being shown up as underdeveloped. She's actually a pretty typical perfectionist teenager at heart.

Deepest hilarious level: Mage Avatars are revealed in later canon material to be angelic/demonic war-dead from the time of the Fall stapled to human soul. This was engineered by her world's Lucifer Morningstar. Shay personally is glued to a shard of a fallen angel of the First House, although the specific resonance is faded. Feel free to notice that, Gabriel! Shay has no idea.

She also has a True Name in Enochian: Zivaen, roughly translating to 'true light', because Hermetics are exactly that pretentious and silly. Her. True Name is an extremely deep secret and can be used to magically control her, so she's loathe to have it revealed.

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Shay can obscure herself from the time stream occasionally, but I'll mention if she's doing anything like that.

Anything else? Nope.

Character name: Sherlock Holmes

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yup perfectly fine.

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? Surface: Snippy, Arrogant. Thinking almost always about work. HOWEVER since at that moment thinking about work involves wrapping up any danger left for John, Lestrade and Mrs Hudson from what's left of Moriarty's web, there are some muddled feelings for them in there too. All the current case-related stuff would be here. His apparent 'suicide' would have very shallow reasons at this level - beating Moriarty at his own game, winning, etc. They aren't the real reasons, though.

He tries to pretend he doesn't have feelings, but the reality is he is often completely overwhelmed with his own emotions and doesn't know how to deal with them save lashing out.

In the Middle and down deep: He pretends he doesn't care about people, but there is a wealth of concern and care and worry right under the surface. It's narrowed down to focus on a very small group of people - John, Lestrade, Mrs Hudson, Molly (and yes, even a little, a very little, for Mycroft.) The real reasons for his 'suicide' are here. Because he could have beaten Moriarty without 'dying', could have taken him into the police - but he would have lost the only people in the world that cared about him, and that he cared deeply about. He still didn't want to actually die, but given that he's had to give up everything in order to protect them (not just their friendship, but also his work, his name, his reputation - which to someone as arrogant as he is, is a massive blow), he may as well have.

There is a lot about John at a deep level. John is the closest person to him in the world, whether Sherlock admits it or not, and Sherlock would do (as we've seen) almost anything to protect him - even as he snaps at him and experiments on him and chases away all his girlfriends. There are a lot of happy memories - a lot of smiles and giggling on crime scenes - but there are also a lot of tense ones. Arguments. That moment, as Sherlock had to pretend not to care about Mrs Hudson being shot (she never was, he just needed to get John away from him before he committed 'suicide'), when John called him a 'machine'. A moment, standing on the roof, looking down, watching John reach out for him, beg him not to.

At the very beginning, a moment, when a gunshot suddenly killed a serial killer right in front of him, and then a moment an hour later when he realised it had been John who had saved him.

Deeper, John has saved more of him than simply his life. In soul terms, without John, Sherlock would probably have become something much worse. And at the very deepest, there is a deep, ingrained fear that Sherlock himself could have turned into someone like Moriarty - and that terrifies him.

I HOPE ANY OF THIS MAKES SENSE you can ask me to clarify/expand if you need me to

Does your character have any powers or devices which might muddy the waters further/prevent Gabriel from seeing much at all? Noooope.

Character name: John Watson

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Yup!

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? At the surface, John is almost completely overwhelmed by grief. His best friend's funeral was a week ago, and he was one of three people at it. The papers for a week were covered in 'Fake Genius Commits Suicide' but John knows knows that his best friend wasn't a fake, no matter what anyone tells him. Even Sherlock himself telling him that he was a fake hasn't wavered his faith. Obviously at the surface he is still very obsessed with Sherlock's death, and with the open maw of his life from this point.

Before Sherlock, he had nothing - haunted by a his past as a soldier that he couldn't return to, he had no prospects and no will to find new ones - a grey, bleak existence where he didn't know what he was good for and didn't know how to fit back in to civilian life. That time period is very hazy. A little deeper are his war memories - a place where he really felt alive, where he saved many of his comrades, and lost many of them. The shot to his shoulder that discharged him is a painful memory, but one he's buried under memories of Sherlock.

John loves Sherlock. Love in a way that isn't romantic, that isn't sexual, but that is complete and whole and unwavering. Sherlock gave him a purpose and gave him his life back, and John's loyalty to him is as complete as the concept possibly could be. (He killed a man to save him on the first night they met, after all.) There's a secret, fervent wish that Sherlock will somehow be the one person in the world to cheat death, a wish that he sometimes believes - before he tells himself to face reality and face the fact that Sherlock is dead.

John has a very strong moral principle, but as we've seen isn't shy to act if action is demanded. "You killed a man," Sherlock said. "Yes, well, he wasn't a very nice man," John replied. The understatement of a century. John works hard to defend Sherlock and to keep Sherlock from being a complete ass to everyone.

There is a deep loneliness, in there, both before and after Sherlock, that matches Sherlock's loneliness without John.

Are you comfortable with Gabriel seeing your character's soul? Sure thing.

What extremely important memories/aspects of personality/powers might he see? It's prolly really easy for Gabriel to see the taint of Hell on Castiel's mind, and how much he's suffering from the resulting insanity.

Anything else? BROTHER ;;
